It's All in the Details

Just starting out practicing detailed wedding shots in Colorado Springs. Although these flowers may be dead, they represent the many weddings that I have attended and to me represent life and love. Their beauty and their colors continue on throughout the years. You can never have enough dead flowers lying around your house.

The Devil is in the details, people say, but to me, life and time live on in the details. Having worked with a wedding planner in Colorado Springs, and having to set up and take down weddings myself, I can attest that this is true. Not everyone may notice everything at a wedding, and to be honest, you probably aren’t supposed to. You are supposed to be focused on the couple being married because this is their day. Yet there is so much that goes into that day happening and being magical for them. You may notice the flowers on the table, the place settings, the decorations. Every one of those little details, someone worked for that. Someone knew color schemes and how to play darks and lights and contrasting and complementary colors so that the bouquet the bride holds really pops. Someone knew that the couples favorite color was gold, or blue, or magenta, or ridiculously bright teal and so the place cards on the table with that little wax seal in just the right color are there on purpose. Someone put them there. Someone knew that the couple likes geometric shapes which is why the candle holders are weird wire octagons and squares. Someone knew the groom’s favorite cake is triple chocolate with chocolate frosting and the bride was okay with that so when you see a wedding cake that isn’t white but dark brown, covered in chocolate flakes, you may think that’s not traditional but it is there for a reason. Someone knew.

This is a shout out to all the people who make weddings happen. This is a shout out to all the people who know the details and know that the devil isn’t there. He’s somewhere else being stomped down by our hard work and awesomeness and what remains is everything that everyone knew about the couple. And those facts are all in the details.
